California Dreamin'

June 2003 - Napa, Mendocino, and the Redwoods

Last year, we were fortunate to spend a week in northern California with Jayne's dad Ed Muns and his wife, Marylee.  It was a great trip - excellent traveling companions, beautiful scenery, fine food, and great wine.  What more could we want but to do it again?

One June 21, Jayne, Marylee, and Ed picked me up in San Francisco (Jayne flew in the day before) after a marathon flight from Quebec City, Canada, where I had been attending a conference.  We cruised across the Golden Gate Bridge and headed for the Vintage Inn, in the Napa valley.

After two days of sampling the best of Napa food and beverage, we headed off to the Mendocino coast.  Our accommodations afforded a beautiful view of the Pacific.

We fell in love with the beauty of the Mendocino coast last year.  Little did we know what would await us in the redwood forest...

These aren't your ordinary trees...
